Immerse yourself in one of the most exciting adventures in Europe, exploring breathtaking scenery within the evocative forests of Northern Europe, in search of these lands' most important predators. We're in Finland, and the vast forests surrounding the region are home to diverse mammal species, including wolves, bears, and wolverines, we also encounter reindeer, foxes, and moose, capercaillie, golden eagles, and white-tailed eagles.

A truly full immersion awaits us, we'll spend four days in the best photo hides, offering excellent opportunities to photograph these amazing animals in their natural habitat.

A photography tour focused on the places where there's a greater chance of spotting wolves, bears, and wolverines. You'll be led by professional photographer Alessandro Di Modica and a local guide, where I'll share my experience and expertise in the world of wildlife with you.

WHO IS THIS EVENT FOR?

This workshop is aimed at all photography and nature enthusiasts. Dedicated both to those who are taking their first steps in this wonderful world and want to receive some useful advice in the field and in post-production to improve their knowledge, and to more advanced photographers, who want to spend four days in places full of photographic possibilities, bringing home excellent shots. No particular skills are required.

EVENT DESCRIPTION

This photography workshop takes place in the stunning Finnish Tundra, where we will spend four days in a cabin in close contact with local nature. We will be able to admire and photograph a large number of wild animals that inhabit rivers, lakes, and forests, captivated by the extraordinary beauty of the landscape and the evocative locations where we can spot the local fauna and birdlife. I will share my photographic expertise to offer an intense, useful experience, with the utmost respect for nature. We will leverage our local knowledge to provide the highest level of photographic quality, carefully studying every lighting situation and shooting angle.

We'll meet at Kajaani Airport, and via internal transfer, we'll head deep into the Finnish forests to our designated base camp, which will serve as our base camp for the days we'll be staying in Finland. Afterward, once we've settled our bags in our respective rooms, we'll have an introductory lesson about the experience, explaining the various rules and behaviors to be observed in the lodges. Temperatures for this time of year range between -5°C and 10°C.

In the following days, we'll head to the lodges for photo sessions, arriving at 4:00 PM and leaving at 7:00 AM, making the most of the long hours of daylight and the lodges selected for the experience.

Once we return to the lodge, we'll have breakfast and have the opportunity to rest. After lunch, we'll depart for the photo session. We will be provided with dinner, which we will have the opportunity to consume inside the hut.

It will be incredible to be able to get up close to the many animals that populate the vast forests of Northern Europe in their natural habitat, and create stunning environmental shots or portraits. My workshops will cover the basics of wildlife photography, focusing on the landscape and how to make the most of every hour of light. You will be guided from camera settings to the actual shooting. We will then compare our shots and discuss post-production, where I will reveal some secrets for optimizing our photographs, with a particular focus on file customization, detail optimization, light and contrast management, and color correction.

The purpose of these events is to train you through my experience, leaving you with enough knowledge to cultivate this passion anywhere and with excellent photographic results. The workshop will begin with an initial theoretical explanation, to prepare and introduce participants to nature photography, explaining compositional rules, photographic techniques, tips, and everything else needed to create quality photographs.

With the support of a professional photographer, you'll have the opportunity to hone your photography skills, discovering the best techniques for capturing impactful images. Every click of the camera will be a dive into the wild, an indelible memory of an intense experience. During the workshop, you'll not only learn to take extraordinary photos, but also to observe and understand animal behavior, thus enriching your connection with nature.

RECOMMENDED PHOTO EQUIPMENT

For this type of workshop, we recommend focal lengths from 400mm effective to a maximum of 800mm. Other shorter focal lengths could also be interesting, so as to obtain different photographic ideas. For this event you can rent products such as cameras and lenses.

The products are rented without any deposit, and without any credit card or particular constraint. Each product is delivered on the spot and no insurance is required..

PROGRAM DETAILS

Day 1

Departure from Italy and meeting at Kajaani Airport, followed by internal transfer to the accommodation. Once we arrive and drop off our luggage, there will be a short lecture on the photography tour we'll be undertaking over the following days.

Days 2-3-4-5

• 7:45 AM: Breakfast at the hotel.
• 2:30 PM: Lunch at the hotel and then departure for the lodges.
• 4:00 PM: Entry to the photography lodges.
• 7:00 AM: Exit from the lodge and return to the hotel.

Day 6

• Departure from the facility to Kajaani Airport and subsequent return to your home countries.
